Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC), a Florida based utility provider for water and electricity, partnered with Amber Kinetics to set up a 64 kWh Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS). Commissioned in April 2022, Amber Kinetics’ flywheels will support OUC’s Grid Integration Laboratory (GIL) research program along with other emerging renewable technologies.

Amber Kinetics’ flywheel technology proves to be an ideal and efficient energy storage solution for the site, amid the high humidity and shallow water table.

In addition, Amber Kinetics’ FESS supports OUC in its goal to reduce carbon emissions by 50% in 2030 and become net zero in 2050.
